About VPN Region

VPN Region is an independent privacy site focused on one specific question: which VPN actually works in your country?

Most VPN review sites publish the same global “Top 10” lists, ranking providers based on features that look good on paper. The problem is that VPNs do not perform the same way everywhere. A VPN that works perfectly in Germany may struggle in the UAE. A service that streams US Netflix flawlessly may fail to bypass restrictions in Vietnam. Marketing claims rarely match reality on the ground.

That gap is why VPN Region exists.

Who runs this site

VPN Region is run by Priit Raudkivi, an Estonian entrepreneur and software developer based in Tallinn. I have spent years building digital products and working remotely across different countries — which is also how I first ran into the practical reality that VPNs behave very differently depending on where you actually use them.

Estonia is one of the most digitally advanced societies in the world, with strong privacy protections built into how the country operates online. That perspective shapes how I think about VPNs: not as a luxury, but as a basic tool for keeping your internet experience reliable and your data your own.

I built VPN Region to share honest, country-specific guidance — the kind I wished existed when I first started looking for answers myself.

How we test VPNs

Every country guide on this site is based on hands-on testing, not affiliate-driven recommendations. Our process includes:

  • Real network testing — we connect to VPN servers from the country we are writing about (or from networks that simulate those conditions) and measure how the service actually performs.
  • Practical use cases — streaming, video calls, accessing local banking and government services, and bypassing common restrictions.
  • Speed and stability — not just one-off speed tests, but consistent performance over multiple sessions.
  • Server coverage — does the provider have nearby servers, and do they actually work?
  • Privacy fundamentals — no-logs policies, jurisdiction, encryption standards, and audit history.

If a VPN does not perform well in a specific country, we will not recommend it for that country — even if it has a generous affiliate program.

Why NordVPN appears across most of our guides

After testing multiple providers across the countries we cover — Indonesia, India, UAE, Vietnam, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Turkey — NordVPN has consistently performed the best in the regions our readers care about. It is not the cheapest, and it is not perfect, but it works reliably where many other VPNs struggle.

If that changes, our recommendations will change too. We are not locked in to any single provider.

How we make money

VPN Region is reader-supported. When you sign up for a VPN through links on our site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This helps cover hosting, testing, and the time required to keep the site maintained and up to date.

It does not affect what we recommend. For more details, see our full affiliate disclosure.

What we will never do

  • Recommend a VPN we have not tested.
  • Hide the fact that we earn commissions.
  • Let affiliate payouts decide our rankings.
  • Publish content written entirely by AI and pass it off as personal experience.
